The ceremony took place on The Big Island of Hawaii on June 11, 2006. We had already planned a trip to Hawaii for June. There was a library conference there (Loex-of-the-West 2006) and Carolyn presented a paper at the conference. We used the conference as an extremely good excuse for setting up an entire Hawaiian vacation. We arrived on The Big Island on June 3, toured around Hawaii Volcanoes National Park for a few days, then went to the conference held at the Fairmont Orchid, just north of Kailua-Kona. The conference ended on Saturday June 10, just in time for us to get married on June 11. We were very fortunate to have some friends from Ohio also attending the conference — so they were also able to participate in our ceremony. This made it perfect! There is also a photo album from the event.
On June 12 we flew to Maui (our honeymoon, you could say) for 5 more days of vacation (including the other national park in Hawaii, Haleakala National Park). Then we flew home to Ohio.
We wish you could all have been there with us on this exciting day.
